Privacy is important to us
And who are we…?
Hey there,
You’ve visited the Website of Feng Shui Master Gayle Atherton and our website address is: https://fengshui.com.au. Our Company Name is: Feng Shui Dragon Enterprise Pty Ltd. We like to be pretty upfront about what we’re doing here and so we’ve put together this list of information for you to decide upon.
If you feel uncomfortable with the data we collect for the purposes of running our website the way we would like it to be… please don’t accept our cookies or visit our website.
If you decide to stay on and check out what we’re doing then I need to advise you that from here on in… your visit is under your own recognisance and what I will say about that is… we’re pretty decent people, we don’t do weird things with your information, we certainly will never sell it to anyone else… and overall we can be trusted to be decent, respectful and actually offer something of use for you (we hope).
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site (assuming we have this part open) we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images (including camera images from your phone) with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website and we can’t do a darn thing about that. So, if you don’t want your details known, please do not upload personal things or anything like that here.
Contact forms
Yes we do have a few contact forms plastered over our website and those are there in case you want to ask a question and have it answered by us. So we’re going to have your email address and we will respond to you through that email address you’ve left for us to use.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site (from other websites) may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, links to the other websites articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the you the visitor, visited their website.
Technically, we don’t have a lot of these articles on our website – in fact most articles are written by Feng Shui Master Gayle Atherton, however if we show a video from YouTube, then the following applies:
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. This actual internet reality applies right across the board of the entire internet. So if we do embed that YouTube video, then google (who owns YouTube) can collect your data (IF you are logged into YouTube) – the same as they would on any other website a well. Same goes for Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc.
Analytics
Yes we do run Google Analytics from our website and we do this so that we can make sure the information we’re providing is not dead boring!! We use analytics to see what kind of articles you like so that we can expand on these for you. Google analytics provides us with generalised information rather than specific information so we don’t actually know it’s you, we just know that 600 people visited this page and they stayed on the page for 10 minutes – so they probably liked the content
Who we share your data with
Technically, we do not share our data voluntarily with anyone. We do not sell lists, pass on your information to anyone or do any type of conscious information passing on to anyone…
Having said that, because we have a website, our website apps may collect your information and the following is an example of the information that could be shared:
1. We use email providers to form an email list and we use these services so that we can communicate with you and provide information you may like to receive such as Feng Shui Tips, Qi Men Dun Jia (wishing dates), we may run quizzes and hold events.
2. We also have an ecommerce side of things here and we sell helpful Feng Shui Products online in a way where you can purchase and use that information for your own benefit. So our shopping cart and email service provider will gather your information on our behalf.
3. Some of our web apps may need your information to perform a function – such as our contact forms and without these you would not be able to communicate with us.
4.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if we allow this part to be opened), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. So if you buy something from us we need that information for tax reporting, so that we can deliver the product you have purchased, and generally follow up with things from our end.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Signing in to one of our lists will send your information to our email service provider.
